The proposed section of the D3 motorway is part of the European multimodal corridor, the purpose of which is to transfer transit passenger and freight traffic through Slovakia, it is also part of the D3 motorway Hričovské Podhradie – state border SR/PR, which with Kysucy and subsequently with the Republic of Poland

Project Description

The bridge structure involved was a complex shape requiring some detailed design to
allow for different lengths, widths, shapes, and openings in the bespoke formwork
panels. We also delivered a complete set of cantilever panels both deck edges.

 

EMJ were contracted to work alongside the engineer and contractor to produce a panel
scheme and layout to accommodate over 200 different profile panels for this unique
structure. Most of the bridge sections were assembled at ground level before being
lifting into their final seated position.

 

A total of over 410m2 of panels were designed , manufactured and delivered to site near
Most EV.C 11-204 Na Ceste 1/11

Key facts:

  • Over 407m2 of bespoke GRP Formwork supplied including skewed and cantilever panels
  • 210 different panel shapes to account for
    the severe skew in the bridge deck
  • Panels were installed at ground level to avoid work over a railway crossing
  • Special openings on the formwork to allow for drainage
